Hi! I'm Emma.
Based in St. Paul, Minnesota, I’m a writer, runner, reader, hiker, traveler, and gardener with a passion for helping nonprofits work strategically to raise funds.
Arts are my home turf, but I’ve secured grants for nonprofits in education, housing, health and human services, youth development, and more.
I found my way to fundraising in 2014, and never looked back.
I got my start at a Minneapolis consulting firm, which gave me a crash course in grant writing, grants management, and communications for all kinds of nonprofits.
From there I moved to Arts Midwest, a U.S. Regional Arts Organization, where I led fundraising strategy for nearly 10 years.
In 2026, I started my own firm so I could work with a wider range of awesome organizations.
I've been on both sides of the grants table.
I've served as a funder, a panelist, a grantee, a program designer, and a writer. I’ve developed award programs, and I've sat on grant panels for funders like the National Endowment for the Arts and the Minnesota State Arts Board. I also spent three years as a volunteer grantmaker for The Minneapolis Foundation.
Having been in funders' shoes, I know what they're looking for. I know what raises red flags and what makes reviewers say yes: grants that are clear, concise, complete, and free of jargon, with numbers that connect to the narrative.
From letters of interest to federal grants, I've done it all.
I've built templates for brand-new programs, crafted multi-year budgets, and condensed three pages of narrative into 1,000 characters (including spaces!).
In 12+ years, I've written 200+ grants and raised more than $30 million—and never missed a deadline. I'm based in St. Paul and work primarily with nonprofits in the Twin Cities and Upper Midwest. I’m also available remotely for organizations from across the U.S.
